Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed The members of the band played sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics due to not having hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit, and the band held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several demos and tapes from the past to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.
